How to Take Care of Your Boots
Boots season has started! Leather boots can be a big investment so it’s important to know how to take care of them to protect their longevity. With this in mind, today I wanted to share with you a few tips on how to care for your shoes to make sure they look good and keep you warm for the months to come.
Waterproof your boots
I don’t know about you but I absolutely hate rain and snow. I’m sure my boots don’t like them either so I protect them by applying a waterproof spray. It prevents water from bleeding into the shoe.
Polish your boots
Regularly polish your boots. Polish moisturises the leather and keeps it supple. If you don’t have shoe polish at home, feel free to use some Vaseline. Olive oil does the trick, too.
Clean your boots at the end of each wear
Use a shoe brush to remove dust and dirt. Winter salt stains can be easily removed, too. Just mix equal parts of white vinegar and water. Apply the mixture with a soft cloth.
Stuff your shoes
Stuff your taller boots with some newspapers so they maintain their shape.
Replace damaged heels
Regularly check your heels and replace them when they start wearing down.
Store your boots away from sunlight
Keep your boots at room temperature away from direct sunlight. If you can, store them in a shoe box.
